Episode 12: My Ultra Quirky Asian American Wedding

• Harold pressures Elizabeth into marrying him as quickly as possible. She admits to Harold that she has been engaged before. • Throughout the play, we see video clips of Shari’s adventure leaving Seattle. She hits rock bottom, losing her credit cards, sleeping on park benches. Finally she decides to discover her “roots” and flies to Korea. • Chloe and Nathan discover that Shari is gone. Nathan confesses that he has been pretending to be Kenneth, Chloe feigns surprise. Nathan confides that he wants to find a serious relationship, and tells Chloe that she deserves that as well. • Elizabeth and Harold arrive at the Ko’s house to announce their engagement. The Ko’s are impressed with the size of the ring, find out Harold is rich and Chinese, and quickly approve of the marriage. Though, Mr. Ko warns Harold that if he hurts his daughter, Harold will seriously regret it. Harold manipulates Elizabeth into signing a pre-nuptial agreement. • In a private video moment, Elizabeth’s parents talk about their preference for the ethnicity of the man they want Elizabeth to marry – Chinese is best. • At a wedding dress shop, Jenna asks Elizabeth if she’s sure that Harold is the one- Elizabeth argues that you can never be totally sure, but she is ready to commit herself to Harold. Later at a shoe store, Jenna asks Tess if she wants to move in with her. Tess declines, but Elizabeth pipes in that Chloe needs a place to stay- and before Jenna knows what is happening, they are calling Chloe to offer her a room at Jenna’s. • George IM’s “Roxanne” (little does he know it’s actually Harold). “Roxanne” tells George she was at Muckelshoot, saw him, and decided there was no chemistry- then asks him never to contact her again. George is devastated. • Tess and Colin look for an apartment, with Jenna tagging along. Even though Jenna tries to thwart their efforts, they find a great place. The first night in Tess and Colin’s new apartment, Jenna won’t leave. She and Colin have a heart to heart about their previous relationship, and Colin tells her in no uncertain terms that it is over. She finally leaves. • In a private video moment, Zane and Patrick think it’s great that Tess is has found a new roomie in Colin. Inspired by Elizabeth’s upcoming wedding, Patrick proposes to Zane who accepts. • Over a business lunch, Kenneth tries to trap Harold into saying sexually explicit things about Elizabeth, while Jenna and Elizabeth sit at a nearby table. But Harold suspects something is going on, and loudly expresses his love and respect for Elizabeth. Hearing this, she is finally convinced that Harold truly loves her and agrees to elope with him. • Kenneth is completely deflated by his failure to entrap Harold. He and Jenna share how hard it is to find the right person. Kenneth wonders if it’s too late to fight for Elizabeth. • In a private video moment, Kenneth & Jenna’s parents lament how foolish Kenneth was in losing Elizabeth to another man. • Despite Jenna’s protestations, Tess and Colin agree to be back-up buddies. If neither is married by the time their 40, they’ll marry each other. • Tess, Jenna and Colin grill Harold on Elizabeth’s likes and dislikes- to test his worthiness as her husband. All are impressed. Mr. and Mrs. Ko show up, then a Justice of the Peace, then Elizabeth in her wedding dress. They discover that they are at a surprise wedding. • Jenna quickly excuses herself to call Kenneth and warn him. When she returns, the wedding is already in progress. Jenna does her best to stall the wedding until Kenneth and George can get there to stop the wedding. • Jenna pulls Elizabeth aside to ask if Kenneth burst through the door, would Elizabeth stop the wedding. Elizabeth tells her that she can’t live her life for “what if”, and that Harold is right here, ready to commit to her, and she is going through with it. • The wedding concludes and Harold whisks Elizabeth away. Kenneth and George rush in to discover they are too late to stop the wedding. • In their honeymoon suite, Harold is anxious to start making babies, but is slightly taken aback when he discovers that Elizabeth isn’t really in love with him, but with her on-line Cyrano that he’s been impersonating. • Kenneth and George come up with a plan to stop Harold from consummating his marriage with Elizabeth. Kenneth distracts Harold at the door and George sneaks in the room. George tries to grab Elizabeth and gets kneed in the groin. Telling her he needs a doctor, he convinces Elizabeth to come with him. Kenneth joins them at George’s car and they race away just as Harold realizes that his new bride has been kidnapped.
